Our first TV ad!

Coming to a living room you... Get ready to see Chip everywhere!

Why TV?

We often hear: "but I don't watch TV", but the fact of the matter is millions upon millions of people do. It remains the most powerful way for us to reach the most people. Can't argue with that math.

Why the paint gun?

After much soul-searching and debate, seeing pitches from some amazing agencies (including the one that invented the notorious "Go Compare" opera man) we decided to collaborate with Offset Collective to make this ad, who make all the great videos you see around Chip.

They brought in a pair fantastic directors who pitched this ad to us. So, why did we go for their paint gun idea?

Well firstly, and most simply, it looks cool and grabs attention.

If you're not into art or the creative process, that's maybe all you need to know! But there is a method to the madness.

We believe Chip is the simplest and smartest way to build your savings. We've made is very easy to get amazing rates and, well, have more more money.

Fundamentally, Chip is about saving smart, not hard.

So, we ran with the idea of an artist who's figured out how to work smart, not hard, and make her art at the tap of button was a perfect metaphor for Chip.

The machine (i.e. Chip) quite literally does all the work for you.

Feeling free & easy

We've built Chip's brand with a guiding principle of giving our users a feeling of freedom.

Meaning, you should be able to live your life knowing that your savings are taken care of.

You should be able to say yes to all the good things in life, and still build your savings.

You shouldn’t need to be a personal finance geek or a millionaire to get the best interest rates.

There's a lot of ways we could illustrate this feeling (to be honest, it's more or less everything you can't do in a lockdown), like...

Think climbing mountains, making art, getting lost in bookshops, road-trips with friends, loved ones around campfires, crowded pubs rowdy parties, or quiet cosy coffee shops on rainy days, the feeling of embracing someone you love, the goosebumps you get when your favourite movie starts, looking out at epic views and feeling like you can go anywhere, do anything.

And this is how we want our users to feel.
