#ChipSaverStories x #SaveAtHome | Meet Louisa

Ordinarily, our #ChipSaverStories series showcases exotic holidays, new tattoos or dream weddings.

However, with the recent travel restrictions and event cancellations unfolding, we knew there would be no point asking how you planned to use your Chip funds.

Instead, we thought we’d share all the positive ways people are using their Chip funds now, despite it not being what they might have planned.

In the first installment of the reinvented #ChipSaverStories, we spoke to Louisa (via an appropriately socially distanced email), who has had both holidays, hen do’s and Glastonbury plans cancelled.

Take five to read how Louisa plans to use her Chip balance to pay for something very different...

Supporting local

“I’ll be using my holiday funds to support smaller businesses who may not be so fortunate."

"We’re still using dog walkers (for our pooch Woody) even though I’m at home all day, as when I have to go back to the office we will have to heavily rely on them once again,” says Louisa.

“Same goes for the groomer - we all need these smaller businesses to survive whether we realise it or not.”

“My favourite [small businesses] generally seem to be animal related; Puppy Tales Pet Services have a great online shop for natural dog treats, chews and toys.”

“They also now offer online dog training courses whilst social contact is not allowed."

"The local animal rescue centre also needs support at this time.”

“Buying gift vouchers from independent retailers and restaurants is also a good way to support them, and gives something to look forward to!”

“We’ve just bought some for a pub/steak restaurant that we would only normally go to for a treat... after this it will be a well deserved treat!”

Helping out those who need it most

“We are also going to donate some money to the Trussel Trust and another local food bank to support those who are experiencing times of increasing hardship.”

And for the future?

“I will be sticking with Chip so there are some funds there should we need the,.”

“If not, then it can be used for a treat once we're all through the other side of this!”

“I’ve postponed my 30th birthday party this year, so I may have celebrations at the end of the year, or stay 29 a little longer and celebrate next year instead!”
