About this fund

The world’s small players with big potential

This fund gives investors exposure to smaller companies — known as small-caps — which could offer exciting growth potential. In this particular fund, companies with a total share value of between $200 million and $1.5 billion are included, but these parameters may vary based on the parameters of the underlying index.

Investing in this fund gives diverse exposure to thousands of global small-cap companies, in one passive investment.

Sector exposure

This fund’s underlying index ranks companies based on total market value within the parameters of S&P’s small-cap market value ($200 million — $1.5 billion). Currently, the highest weighted sectors are industrials, financials, consumer goods, and tech — but these could shift over time as the index moves.

Index Tracker

This is a passive index fund, meaning it does not aim to outperform the market or pick individual winners. Instead, it tracks the MSCI World Small Cap Index, which reflects the performance of small-cap companies in the United States.

Because of its index-tracking structure, it’s lower cost than an actively managed fund and automatically updated to reflect changes in the underlying index.

Global Small Cap FAQ's

Is this fund diversified?

The Global Small Cap fund is made up of thousands of small-cap companies from across the globe. To further diversify, investors might consider some funds that include global mid- and large-cap companies, to cover companies of all sizes.

Does this fund pay dividends?

No – this fund accumulates returns, meaning they are automatically reinvested back into the fund. This style of investing could be better for investors seeking growth — rather than income — from their investment.

Are small-cap companies a good investment?

Small-cap companies can offer high growth potential, but have historically been associated with higher levels of volatility. Investors could consider other more stable investments alongside small-caps to diversify and balance risk.

Why would I buy a fund over individual stocks?

This fund gives you access to thousands of companies in one investment. By investing in an index fund rather than the shares within the index, you’ll most likely cut down on risk, effort, and costs too.
