About this fund

One giant leap for your investments

This fund gives investors access to a select group of pioneering companies driving forward the commercialisation of space — from satellite communications to space tourism and advanced aerospace technologies.

It offers a passive route into the space innovation theme, through a diversified investment of commercially focused space innovators.

Sector exposure

This fund is exposed to a single thematic sector — space innovation. It tracks the MVIS Global Space Industry ESG Index, which includes companies that generate at least 50% of their revenue from activities related to the space industry (e.g. satellite technology, rockets, launch systems, or ground equipment).

The index uses a modified market-cap weighting with individual companies capped at 8% to maintain diversification. Sustainable investment is not the fund's primary objective but companies are excluded if they severely breach UN Global Compact Principles, are involved in controversial weapons, or derive more than 5% of their revenue from harmful sectors such as tobacco, coal, or gambling.

Thematic

This is primarily a thematic fund, as it targets a specific investment theme. It does track an index, making it a passively managed fund, but there are parameters for companies to be included in the index.

Thematic investments don’t tend to give broad market exposure on their own, so should form part of a diverse portfolio.

Space Innovators FAQ's

Is space a good investment?

The space sector is an innovative and expanding industry, driven by advances in satellite technology, space-based internet, and private space exploration. However, it is still at an early stage and carries a higher level of risk, making it more suitable for investors with a long-term horizon and appetite for volatility.

This ETF offers simple access to a theme without the need to choose individual stocks. However, given its niche and higher risk profile, beginners might want to consider it as a smaller part of a diversified portfolio.

How risky is investing in the space industry?

Space-related companies can be volatile due to high research costs, regulatory challenges, and technological risk. The fund spreads risk across multiple companies, but it remains a speculative investment.
