Smart Cash ISA rate boost FAQs
Everything you need to know about the 0.25% AER boost for eligible investment customers.
The offer:
What is the rate boost?
It's a 0.25% AER boost on top of your Smart Cash ISA's standard rate, taking you from 3.75% AER to 4.00% AER (variable tracker) for 12 months. The standard rate tracks 0.06% under the Bank of England base rate, so your boosted rate will move with it.
How long does the boost last?
365 days (12 months) from XX July 2026. After that, your rate reverts to the standard Smart Cash ISA variable rate (currently 3.75% AER variable tracker)
Does the boost apply to my whole balance?
The boosted rate applies to up to £20,000 of your Smart Cash ISA balance. Any amount above that earns the standard 3.75% AER variable tracker rate.
For example, if you have £50,000 in your Smart Cash ISA, £20,000 earns 4.00% AER and the remaining £30,000 earns 3.75% AER.
Eligibility:
Who qualifies for the boost?
To qualify, you need to:
- Have a qualifying investment balance of £5,000 or more by 23:59 on XX July 2026
- Have an open Smart Cash ISA by 23:59 on XX July 2026
- Not have any other promotional or referral boost already applied to your Smart Cash ISA
What counts as my qualifying investment balance?
Your qualifying investment balance is calculated from your opening investment balance on 18 June 2026, plus any net cash deposits you make between XX June and XX July 2026.
It deliberately excludes investment gains, losses, and dividends during the promotion period, so normal market movements won't affect your eligibility.
Note that pending deposits don't count. Only settled amounts are included. Note that deposits take 3-9 working days to land.
Will I lose eligibility if my investment value drops below £5,000?
No. if your balance drops below £5,000 due to investment performance alone, you remain eligible. Market movements don't affect your qualifying investment balance.
However, if you withdraw funds and that brings your qualifying investment balance below £5,000 before 23:59 on XX July 2026, you will lose eligibility.
